about

The first and last tune feature in O’Neill’s Music of Ireland while the middle reel is a composition of fiddle-player Eddie Kelly, originally from East Galway but who spent much of his life in Castlerea, Co. Roscomon. ‘The Green Branch’ was collected for O’Neill’s 1903 collection by Tullamore uilleann piper Bernard Delaney, one of a number of fine musicians recruited into the Chicago police force by then Chief of Police, Captain Francis O’Neill.
